DME2114 Project II

In the increasing recognition of the importance of practical know-how in both research and industry, engineering curriculum needs to be based on hands-on practical work where students analyze and design increasingly sophisticated systems with actual hardware implementation. This course provides such training towards practical skill acquisition. By incorporating practical design into the programme, the curriculum would enhance the skills of students and equip them with practical knowledge to function with competencies and creativities in the engineering profession.

The project course will introduce students to the identification of engineering problems (building an engineering system), project implementation, management, documentation and presentation.

DME1103: Introduction to Mechatronics Systems

This course is intended to provide an introduction to the fundamental, principles and application of mechatronic engineering. It will give a framework of knowledge that allows the students to develop an interdisciplinary understanding and integrated approach to practical and applied mechatronics engineering. The course emphasises how to use the philosophy of mechatronics to design and analyse commonly used sensors, actuators, controllers, simulation tools, digital systems, and measurement systems.
