The course begins with a discussion of the knowledge-acquiring process where the creation of knowledge is emphasised. Frames of reference, scientific ideals and the choice of perspective are regarded as important bricks in the research process. This will be followed by a thorough discussion regarding the choice of subject and the research question, where the importance of an extensive problem background is made clear. The chosen research question has methodological implications, and the possibilities and limitations of quantitative methods for the research question are discussed and exemplified. Different methods for sampling and gathering data are examined alongside the possibilities of accessing information.

BHM1023 Introduction to Tourism Business (202311)

This subject introduces the students with the basic information of tourism industry from business perspectives. The student will go through into all the relevant components affecting tourism’s quality such as accommodation, food and beverages, transportation, attraction and entertainment. By learning this subject, students could get the whole information and ideas about the importance of tourism business in the service and hospitality environment. 

BHM3064 Research Project (Nov2023)

This course aims to extend the outcomes derived from BBA2113 Research Methods and enable students to integrate and translate the knowledge and skills acquired from all components of the Hospitality Management programme in the implementation of a self-initiated and supervisor-guided project on hospitality related problems, questions and challenges previously identified by students.

202311_BHM2044 FOOD AND BEVERAGE SERVICES MGT

This course covers all core topics, including food safety, organizational design, human resources, performance improvement, finance, equipment, design, layout, and marketing. The content is concentrated on basic principles, but increasingly reflects the impact of current social, economic, technological, and political factors towards food and beverage management.
