BCS3102 COMPUTER SECURITY APRIL 2024

The course discusses the fundamental issues and first principles of security and information assurance. It will look at the security policies, models and mechanisms related to confidentiality, integrity, authentication, identification, and availability issues related to information and information systems. Other topics covered include basics of cryptography (e.g., digital signatures) and network security (e.g., intrusion detection and prevention), risk management, security assurance and secure design principles, as well as e-commerce security. Issues such as organizational security policy, legal and ethical issues in security, standards and methodologies for security evaluation and certification will also be covered.


BCS3232 CRYPTOGRAPHY AND DATA SECURITY APRIL 2024

The syllabus provides an introduction to the basic knowledge and technology related to computer security practices in general. Students will learn a practical overview of both the principles and practices of cryptography and data security in particular. Among those studied include the basic problems that must be addressed by network security capabilities through cryptographic technology and data security. Includes those related to network security practices and practical applications that have been implemented and used to provide data security.
