ROBOTICS ENGINEERING
The study of robotics concerns itself with the desire to synthesize some aspects of human function by the use of mechanisms, sensors, actuators, and computers which is actually represents a good example of a complete mechatronics system. This is a huge undertaking, which seems certain to require students to apply knowledge from various engineering courses especially related to mechatronics engineering. In general, this course introduces the science and engineering of mechanical manipulation in robot. The overall course objective is to provide some basic understanding and fundamental principles of robot’s operation (specifically robot manipulator). A robot consists of an integrated mechanical structure (i.e. links, joints, end effector or wrist, etc.), electrical and electronics systems (i.e. sensors, actuators and controllers). In order to move a robot manipulator according to the desired motion, the kinematics, dynamic, trajectory generation and controller of the robot is introduced in this course.
