This course introduces students of media, culture, and communication to the themes, issues and theoretical debates central to the modern study of mediated forms of communication. It examines the factors that influence the media and, in turn, examines the influence of media on attitudes.

BCJ3216 Cyber Journalism
The course introduces several methods and ways for journalists to tell stories via online or digital media. The students also will be exposed to the usage of social media, blogs and any online media for journalistic work. They will also be familiarised with social listening, creating SEOs and practising citizen journalism.
BCJ3212/BMJ2063 Creative Writing for Media
This course exposes students with the principles and styles of writing for different media and communication industries such as media organisations, public relations and advertising agencies. On the other hand, students will also be exposed to the creativity in writing pieces of features stories, press releases or advertisement, in factual but yet persuasive nature.
BMJ1013 Introduction to Journalism
This course offers
students a window into the important and exciting field of journalism. This
syllabus covers all essential aspects of journalism including on how to report,
write and to understand what news is and how it’s produced. The course also
covers the legal and ethical that must be adhered by the journalists in doing
their daily work activities.
