BM2073 Introduction to Forensic Science

The topics covered in this course provide knowledge of the principles, practices and analytical tools for gathering quality evidence from crime scenes e.g., for legal purposes. The biological, physical and chemical properties of the evidence will be reviewed alongside information on DNA and the techniques of modern biotech that will already be familiar to the students from previous courses. An important aspect of the course is to correlate the knowledge and information gathered so that it is relevant to the police, concerned organisations and groups as well as to society at large.
